Abbey Mulder, OTR, CHT, MOT

Abbey is an accomplished and compassionate occupational therapist with 11 years of experience specializing in upper extremity rehabilitation. Her background spans multi-site clinic management, lead hand therapist, solo clinical practice, and collaboration within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Abbey’s therapeutic approach combines clinical expertise with compassion and humor, consistently achieving excellent patient outcomes by reducing pain and supporting efficient recovery. She emphasizes transparent communication and collaborative decision-making to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

As a leader, Abbey is dedicated to establishing efficient systems and frameworks that foster an environment of excellence in patient care for her team and clinic.

Committed to advancing hand therapy, Abbey actively participates in the DFW Hand Society, the Texas Society for Hand Therapy, and the American Society of Hand Therapists. She also mentors emerging therapists as a fieldwork educator and has served as an adjunct professor at Texas Woman’s University.

Inspired by her family’s personal experience with occupational therapy, Abbey is passionate about restoring function and enhancing quality of life. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and rescue dogs, reflecting her holistic approach to health and wellness.

Joanne Hughes OT/L, CHT

My career began in Boston after graduating from the University of Washington. I love the Northwest and after 8 years returned to my roots in Seattle.  I achieved my Certification in Hand Therapy in 1997.  With over 25 years of experience in hand/upper extremity rehabilitation, I bring advanced training and compassion to my work.  I enjoy working with pre and post-surgical care, acute injuries, chronic injuries, arthritis and more.  I have training and experience in working with musicians.

In 2024 I joined the excellent team here at Skagit Hand Therapy. Skagit County is such beautiful spot in the PNW.  

It is important to me to provide individualized rehabilitation to optimize the client's function.  In a client-centered approach, it is vital to look beyond the injury to the person at the table and listen to what their needs and goals are.   

I love the outdoors, hiking, traveling, quilting, reading, music and exploring Skagit County.

Eleanor Corbett OTR/L

Although I first learned about occupational therapy in the early 2000s, it would take me almost two decades to finally be in a position to pursue the field. Proving that you can sometimes teach an old dog new tricks, I graduated from Jacksonville University with a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy in 2021. From there I cut my teeth at a large regional rehabilitation organization in their outpatient division, where I was able to practice everything from adult orthopedics and neuro rehabilitation

to low-vision and lymphedema therapy. I was also given the opportunity to manage an outpatient clinic, bettering my understanding of the larger scope of therapy and its place in the health care system. 

My family decided on a change of scenery and we relocated to Washington in 2025. Since then I have had the privilege to work with the wonderful team at Skagit Hand Therapy. I am currently studying for my CHT exam later this year under the guidance of several amazing CHTs.   

Kelli Garfield OTR/L

What I enjoy most about hand therapy is the problem-solving aspect and helping patients return to their meaningful activities, whether that means work, hobbies, sports, or everyday life.

I have a particular interest in chronic pain management and incorporating a whole-person approach into rehabilitation. I am a certified lifestyle medicine coach and have presented nationally at the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) Annual Meeting on lifestyle medicine approaches for chronic pain. I am continuing to advance my specialization in hand therapy and plan to sit for the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) examination.

Outside of the clinic, I stay active in the local fitness and running communities as a cycling instructor and board member for the Arlington Runner’s Club. I enjoy training for a variety of endurance events, with a particular love for triathlon, and I am always up for a running event or a cycling adventure.

I am excited to join the Skagit Hand Therapy team and help patients get back to doing the things they love.
